There’s a first time for everything, even when you’re welcoming your fourth baby! That was the case for this sweet family who recently brought their precious baby boy to my studio for his newborn photography session in San Diego. With three older siblings at home, this little guy is already stepping into a lively, love-filled world. His parents had never done a newborn shoot for their first three kids and regret it now.
Mom and Dad told me how much they wished they had beautiful baby photos of their older children at this stage. Life gets busy, especially with little ones, and before you know it, this fleeting newborn stage is just a distant memory. So, this time, they were determined not to miss out!
From the moment this adorable baby arrived at the studio, he was an absolute dream to photograph. Some newborns make me work for it, and I love the challenge! But this little guy snoozed like a champ, posed like a pro, and melted hearts with every tiny smile. I could already tell this baby boy was born for the camera!
Mom and Dad requested a color palette of green, blue, and cream, with a touch of nature. And I couldn’t have been more excited! These colors create such a timeless and serene look, perfect for highlighting the natural beauty of a newborn. To bring their vision to life, I incorporated soft textures, delicate greenery, and earthy tones, giving the entire session an organic and cozy feel.
Newborns are all about softness, tiny toes, fuzzy hair, and those oh-so-squishy cheeks. I used textured blankets, knitted wraps, and natural elements to create depth and warmth in the images. The gentle greenery added a touch of freshness, making the newborn pictures feel peaceful and beautifully connected to nature.
One of my favorite setups was posing the baby boy in my favorite wooden bucket with a hint of green foliage around him. The way he smiled was just perfection. Honestly, I may have gotten a little emotional behind the camera, but please don’t judge me! I just love newborns so much! Haha!
When Mom and Dad saw the final gallery, their reaction made my day! They absolutely loved how their newborn photos turned out and told me they were beyond grateful for finally capturing this stage of babyhood. Of course, there was a little guilt about not doing this for their older kids, but better late than never, right? Now, they have timeless infant pictures that they will treasure forever.
