Capturing Love: A Heartfelt Newborn Session in San Diego
As a San Diego newborn photographer, there’s nothing quite like the joy of welcoming back a family for a second newborn session. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful newborn baby boy, alongside his proud 3-year-old big sister, and the experience was nothing short of magical.
A Special Return
Three years ago, I had the honor of capturing the newborn photos of the big sister. That session was filled with love, laughter, and even a sweet elderly dog who has since passed on. When I received the call from the parents, excited to book a newborn photo shoot for their newest addition, I was filled with anticipation. It’s truly special to witness a family’s journey as they grow, and I couldn’t wait to see how much their big girl had changed and how she would embrace her new role as a sister.
A Perfect Newborn Session
The session began in my cozy newborn baby studio, filled with soft blankets and gentle lighting, perfect for creating beautiful newborn pictures. As I prepared for the shoot, the big sister entered the room with a beaming smile. Her enthusiasm set the tone for the entire day. She was incredibly cooperative, following directions effortlessly, and her love for her new sibling shone through every interaction.
The parents had a few special requests, which I always strive to accommodate. They wanted to use a charming fox outfit they had seen in my portfolio, along with a driver’s cap and props that reflected their family’s love for travel—a sailboat and a wooden airplane. I was thrilled to incorporate these elements into our newborn session.

The parents were captivated, exclaiming “OMG!” as they watched me pose their children together. We took some adorable pictures of their baby boy posing comfortably in the sailboat, and he slept soundly on the wooden airplane. The rustic burl wood bed served as the perfect setting for the knitted fox outfit. As I posed him hugging a matching knitted fox toy, I was delighted when he gifted me with a fleeting smile.
